Conservation Weeks

We run snorkeling safaris on demand (please just ask!), but the highlight of our year is the summer residential trips, each lasting 5 days.

Each week's activities are dependent upon weather and tide, but will usually include 3 snorkel sessions, a trip to Gigha (amazing snorkeling there), a beach clean, and some R&R time.  We will try to map seagrass, identify species that we see, and upload to seagrassspotter, eggcase hunt and any other citizen science programs that are relevant!

The dates for 2023 are:

JULY

WED 5 TH  - SUN 9TH

SAT 15TH - WED 19TH

AUGUST

WED 2ND  - SUNDAY 6TH

WED 16TH - SUNDAY 20TH

The first day of each trip is just about getting to Kintyre.  There is a regular bus departing Glasgow at 2pm, so if you can get to Glasgow safely by then you can easily get here in a day (we also have plenty of parking space for cars).  The next three days will be jam packed with activities, and on the last day we will ask for a little help cleaning the house, after which you'll have time for a last beach walk or swim, before departing.

Please check out the instagram page here for photos or videos of what you're likely to see.

The price of the week is £440, which is broken down as follows:

4 x £35 per night accommodation = £140

3 x £100 for three fully guided days with wetsuits and snorkel equipment provided = £300

Hopefully you are as excited as we are about getting under the waves and seeing all the incredible flora and fauna the west coast has to offer!

What's included:

  • Accommodation in a comfy detached house (2 people per room)

  • All snorkel equipment (wetsuit, boots, gloves, hoods, fins, masks, snorkel)

  • Qualified snorkel guide

What's not included:

  • Travel to and from Kintyre (there is a direct bus from Glasgow, or ample car parking)

  • The Ferry to Gigha, if we decide to use it (return is £5.80)

  • Food.  The accommodation is hostel style with a shared kitchen.  We encourage everyone to take turns cooking and will attempt to coordinate this before the week.  Don't worry too much though - if anyone runs out of food we will arrange a trip to the shops.

  • Local travel - usually at least one guest will be happy to use their car to help with local transport, but if this is not the case we may need to hire a car for the week, which could add £50 per person.
